The Organisation-

RenewableUK is the leading renewable energy trade organisation in the UK. Established in 1978 we now represent over 700 corporate members, mainly in the wind and marine energy industries. In 2006 we established RenewableUK Cymru to help promote this important sector contributing new jobs and more than £158 million each year to the Welsh economy.

We are primarily a lobbying organisation, promoting the deployment of wind, wave and tidal power to government, industry, the media and the public. We also act as a central point of information for our membership and present a full annual programme of conferences, exhibitions and other networking opportunities. We commission research to provide market based evidence to support our policy positioning and to supplement our responses to government consultations on behalf of our members, and generally act as the principal forum for the UK wind, wave and tidal sectors.

The Role-

The Policy and Research Manager will lead the development of RenewableUK Cymru policy positions and build upon existing achievements. You will be responsible for analysing policy positions of other organisations and ascertain their effect on the renewable energy industry in addition to developing potential policy positions that could help advance the industry and the quest to increase sustainable energy for Wales. Along with the Head of Communications and Policy, you will be report your findings to the Cymru Strategy Group and advise it on the most appropriate positions to adopt as well as ensuring that policy actions are delivered. In addition to our member companies, the Policy and Research Manager will build relationships with other key stakeholders such as civil servants, relevant Government departments and policy developers in partner organisations.

The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills that will include giving public presentations, with the ability to develop effective relationships at all levels. It is absolutely essential that the candidate can demonstrate the ability to assimilate large quantities of complex information and use it to produce briefings, policy documents, consultation responses and election manifestos.
