Introduction

The United States Peace Corps seeks an HIV/AIDS Program Manager to be based in Pretoria, Sunnyside. The Incumbent is responsible for program design and management; meeting training needs of American Peace Corps Volunteers, their South Africa Hosting Agencies, and their counterparts; monitoring, evaluation and reporting and; Volunteer support.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor of Arts or Honors Degree or verifiable professional experiences which when com-bined with formal education profiles the equivalent of a Master's degree in Social Science, public Health and Public Admin.
• Three to five years of progressively responsibility in the area of project management or community development.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Knowledge of one or more local languages required, preferably Northern Sotho, SeTswana, TshiVenda, IsiZulu, SiSwati, Sepedi or SiNdebele.
• Demonstrated ability to articulate complex issues orally and demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Suite of computer applications (including MS-Word, Excel, Power-Point, and Outlook).
• Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a multi-cultural, multi-national team.
• 3-4 years Training Experience

Job Specification

The HIV/AIDS Program Manager will work under the supervision of the Associate Peace Corps Director of Programming and Training (DPT) in conjunction with the Country Director (CD).


Basic Duties include:
• Provides technical support for HIV/AIDS programming.
• Documents unique methodologies developed by or appropriate to Peace Corps programs in coordination with the Programming and Training Team.
• Monitors the progress and impact of HIV/AIDS programming; makes timely, thoughtful and well-prepared submissions of reports.
• Recommends appropriate actions to DPT and CD about the continuation, extension and completion of HIV/AIDS actions in the field.
• In collaboration with the DPT, Training Manager, and other training staff, designs and im-plements pre-service training and in service training on HIV/AIDS for Peace Corps Trainees and Volunteers working in the health and education projects to provide them with the neces-sary knowledge and skills they require to successfully fulfill their assignments.
• Assists the Programming and Training Team in the development of training designs and prepares Trainees to the objectives of the project plans and PEPFAR Implementation Plan.
• Organize targeted training programs focusing on care and support for OCVs and their care givers.
• Coordinates the development and reviews of the annual implementation plans and country operating plan in collaboration with DPT and CD.
• Represents Peace Corps at country team meetings and serves as a member of technical teams/work groups, as necessary.
