Public Affairs Manager YesMinister

As Public Affairs Manager at yesMinister you will be responsible for working with our clients and servicing their needs.

The main focus over the next 3 months will be:

  • Identifying and securing opportunities to raise the profile of our clients,
  • Pro-actively establishing communications with external parties for and on behalf of our clients,
  • Building strong, active relationships with key decision makers.

Typical tasks will include:

  • Maintaining regular contact, in person and in writing, with politicians, civil servants, and/or staff in local authorities and regulatory bodies to brief them on clients\' work and concerns;
  • Working closing with clients to provide a client focused service;
  • Responding to requests for information;
  • Researching, forecasting and evaluating the effects of public policy on our clients, using public sources, political intelligence and personal contacts;
  • Monitoring information relevant to our clients area/s of interests including sources such as Hansard, think-tanks and other bodies in order to keep clients informed of any developments related to their field of activity;
  • Establishing and maintaining two-way communication with relevant official bodies and stakeholders;
  • Planning, developing and implementing PR strategies.

Person specification

  • Educated to degree level or above;
  • Minimum 2 years\' public affairs, government relations or public relations experience.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proven ability to strategise, organise and articulate the mission and vision of an organisation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills; the ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Team-oriented work style, with a pro-active, open-minded and flexible approach.
  • High level of professional integrity and discretion.
  • High degree of computer literacy (Windows XP, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and the Internet).

►Salary: £28,000 pro rata
