Revenue Watch seeks a Finance Associate

Revenue Watch seeks a Finance Associate to be based in New York City.

Purpose of Position:

Support financial management, including compilation and maintenance of accounts payable records, processing all outgoing payments. First point of contact for all staff regarding payments and finance issues, and serves as RWI’s primary finance liaison with OSI and bank. Work is performed under general supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compile and maintain accounts payable records including coding, posting, recording general ledger accounts, reviewing source documents for accuracy and preparing standard journal entries;
  • Process all wire transfers and vendor bills for payment and print accounts payable reports and maintains all accounts payable files;
  • Record incoming donor contributions, and managing project and donor coding;
  • Generate project spending reports and coordinate monthly reconciliations with regional accounting staff and host institutions;
  • Assist staff in tracking project expenditures and coding and re-classing expenses;
  • Prepare analysis of accounts and reports, as required;
  • Assist with preparation of 1099’s at year end;
  • Research questions and communicate issues on payments and ensure timely follow up with both internal staff and external vendors;
  • Support Director of Operation on financial management and accounting issues as needed;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and minimum of two to three years of relevant experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience and/or training in a non-profit accounting and finance department preferred;
  • Experience with basic accounting in not-for-profit or for-profit organization.

  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office;
  • Excellent listening and communication skills with sensitivity to cultural communication differences;
  • Show discretion and ability to handle confidential issues;
  • High level of self-motivation and at ease working independently when necessary;
  • Poised and work well under pressure, attentive to detail and prioritizes work;
  • Flexibility and willingness to work simultaneously on a wide range of tasks and projects and ability to prioritize tasks;
  • Pleasant, diplomatic manner and disposition in interacting with senior management, co-workers and the general public.


Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Essential functions are typically performed in an office setting with a low level of noise. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Program Specific Requirements:

  • Expertise with Internet research tools;
  • Experience with database management preferred;
  • High degree of comfort with a variety of IT systems;
  • Effectively plan own work, understand and research financial data.
