Senior Biostatistician FHI 360

FHI 360 is a global development organization with a rigorous, evidence-based approach. The Biostatistics unit supports clinical and epidemiological research in family planning, HIV prevention, and other infectious diseases, as well as providing statistical consulting to researchers in the behavioral and development sciences. We seek qualified candidates for the position of Senior Biostatistician in Research Triangle Park, NC.
Position Responsibilities:
Serve as statistical project leader, statistical consultant, and/or lead statistical analyst for multiple clinical trials or observational studies and/or studies of a complex nature. Prepare statistical sections (e.g., sample size justification and analysis plans) of protocols and proposals, write statistical analysis plans, and develop (or oversee the development of) analysis specifications. Perform (or supervise the performance of) statistical analysis, usually in SAS. Coordinate the provision of biostatistical support. Prepare statistical sections of study reports and manuscripts; prepare reports for the FDA, sponsors, etc. Advise investigators regarding study design and analysis methods. Serve as in-house reviewer of proposals, protocols, and manuscripts. Conduct statistical methods research as needed; may write manuscripts of a statistical nature for presentation or publication. May play a lead role in the development and maintenance of systems assuring the timely provision of high quality statistical services. Train FHI staff and collaborators on research design and statistical methodology as needed. Publish scientific articles. May supervise junior biostatistical staff. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements: Advanced knowledge of research methods, design, and statistical evaluation for observational and randomized studies; experience in designing, planning and analyzing clinical trials or other health research studies; advanced knowledge of statistical software packages (primarily, SAS). Excellent verbal and written English. Strong quantitative and organizational skills.. Understanding of regulatory requirements governing statistical aspects of research. Routine coordination with FHI 360 employees, researchers at collaborating organizations and in the field. Consultancy contact with research staff at various levels of scientific/technical expertise. Frequent contact with FHI 360 senior research staff and FHI 360 executive staff. May interact with statisticians at regulatory agencies and project officers at donor agencies, as needed. May represent FHI 360 to external organizations.
Minimum Requirements:
Education/Experience: BS in biostatistics or statistics and 9-11 years relevant work experience, or MS/MPH in biostatistics or statistics and 7-9 years relevant work experience or PhD/DrPH in biostatistics or statistics and 5-7 years of relevant work experience. Advanced knowledge of study design and data analysis methodology. Must have excellent verbal and written English.
