Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) teach Undergraduate and Graduate courses in the human environment field of urban/ population geography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS); (ii) supervise student research projects and thesis at both Undergraduate and Graduate levels; (iii) conduct research in their area of expertise; (iv) provide service to the community; (v) provide academic leadership and act as a mentor to junior academic staff; (vi) carry out any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Department. Requirements: Candidates should: (i) have at least a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science or related fields; (ii) have a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or a cognate discipline with at least a 2(i) pass and an overall aggregate not less than 65%; (iii) hold the position of Associate Professor of Environmental Science or at least 5 years of teaching experience at a University or comparable institution; (iv) have a good and sustained record of research and publications with at least 12 publications, 8 of which should be refereed journal articles; lead and/or single authored in at least 6 refereed journal articles or book chapters; (v) Evidence of service to University, the Profession and the Community; (vi) Evidence of effective academic leadership; (vii) a relevant PhD, Knowledge of Environmental and statistical modeling and ability to attract funding from international sources will be added advantages. The CV should contain a detailed list of publications, clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, names of publishers and names of co-authors if any.
