Senior Programme Manager Sri Lanka

Senior Programme Manager Sri Lanka 2 years fixed term contract LKR 175,580 - 237,033 gross per month Provident fund, medical, life and travel insurance cover, 15+ annual leave days

With the end of a civil war, the aftermath of numerous natural disasters and ongoing, deep-rooted gender issues, Oxfam GB have our work cut out in Sri Lanka. That’s why we’re working collaboratively with Oxfam Australia and Oxfam Italia to deliver a more co-ordinated and closely aligned effort. And why we’re looking for an experienced Manager to deliver the economic justice, gender justice and Rights in Crisis support that will help the country to get back on its feet.

The role Heading up Oxfam GB’s work in Sri Lanka, you’ll provide the strategic leadership and long-term vision our people need to drive our efforts forward. And as well as drawing on your expertise to advise, guide and inspire teams in the implementation and management of our programmes, you’ll support the wider country programmes too as part of the Country Leadership Team. That means monitoring ongoing progress, identifying areas for improvement and learning as you go; developing a strategy based on your insight that will strengthen our capacity to address changing short and long term needs. But as you would expect at this level, you’ll do more than oversee the operational side of things. You’ll analyse performance to give the in-depth context and understanding that ensures we build on the capabilities and learning of Oxfam and our teams on the ground, and that will inform our humanitarian and development work for years to come.

What we’re looking for We’re looking for someone from a programme management background. Someone with strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team of project managers in order to achieve strategic objectives. You’ll need a good understanding of humanitarian and development issues – especially those involving economic and gender justice. But it’s just as important that you’re business focused with a strong commercial mind, confident handling a budget and have no problem organising your competing responsibilities. A proactive approach to every day mean you’ll confidently resolve complex issues and make effective decisions. While strong communication and relationship building skills will allow you to resolve personnel issues in support of the programme delivery – influencing and negotiating at all levels. If you have a real interest in Oxfam, our values and our work, this is the ideal opportunity to use your skills to make difference that’s more worthwhile.

About Oxfam A simple, inescapable truth underlines everything we do at Oxfam. There’s enough wealth in this world to go around. It’s not unfortunate that people live in poverty. It’s unjustifiable. And it’s not just their problem. It’s ours too. At Oxfam we believe that with the right support, we can beat poverty and injustice. Thousands of people already commit their time and talents to our campaigning, humanitarian and long-term development projects. Now we’re looking for yours.
