The African Innovation Foundation (www.africaninnovation.org) with Globethics.net Foundation as implementing partner (www.globethics.net), are starting a new and innovative project consisting of an online library on law and governance for legal texts from all African countries, the African Law Library (ALL). For this library, Globethics.net is opening the position of the Librarian of the African Law Library at its international Head Office in Geneva/Switzerland.
Major Tasks
• Structuring the online library according to library science standards
• Organization and supervision of the metadata of the library documents
• Supervision of the digitizing projects in different African countries
• Training and advising library staff of partners of the African national focal points
• Identification and integration of secondary literature from a variety of sources
• Development of innovative, user-friendly tools for the user target groups
Qualifications
• University degree in library and/or information science
• Good knowledge of African information needs and challenges
• Basic knowledge or interest in law
• Very good command of spoken and written English and French. In addition, Portuguese and German are an advantage
• If possible experience in an online library project in an international environment
• Interest and ease in electronic networking
• Organisational skills
• Independent and precise work
The position is a three year project position 2012-2015 and can be extended.
Location: The international Head Office is located in Geneva, Switzerland.
Starting date: 1 October 2012, or by agreement.
