EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) is one of Africa's most eminent health research organizations. With a history of more than 50 years, IHI is an independent, non-profit organization, registered in Tanzania and led by Tanzanians. IHI conducts a wide range of health-related research, including biomedical and environmental studies, trials of drugs, vaccines and diagnostics, health-systems research, and monitoring and evaluation. With its registered office in Ifakara town, Morogoro Region, and a coordinating office in Dar es Salaam, IHI operates two branch offices in Bagamoyo and Rufiji. 

IHI invites applications from interested, suitable and qualified Tanzanians to fill the following positions in its Phase III TB clinical trial project (NC 006). Successful candidates will be stationed at Mwananyamala Hospital in Dar es Salaam except for the Lab Technicians who will be based in Bagamoyo.

Duties and Responsibilities


· Provide high standard medical care to participants in a clinical trial in accordance to the National Guidelines for Clinical Management, Standard Treatment Guidelines, Clinical Trial protocol and SOPs, and ensure safety of all study participants is kept and maintained throughout the lifecycle of the clinical trial.

· Maintain proper patient/client documentation and filling of case report forms (CRF), sample request forms and other appropriate study documents in paper and/or electronic based formats.

· Provide immediate life support and other emergency medical care to Clinical trial participants.

· Obtain full-study consent from participants in the clinical trial and proper documentation of the process in the Informed Consent Form (ICF) as per protocol and specified SOP.

· Prepare and/or review study documents such as SOPs, request forms, Informed Consent Forms (ICF) and other study related documents.

· Provide training to the joining staff and other team members as may be required.

· Assist in recruitment of appropriate patient population for research studies with strict adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and clinical trial protocol requirements throughout the lifecycle of the Clinical Trial.

· Perform screening procedures according to study protocol and determine patient eligibility based on inclusion/exclusion criteria as predetermined in the clinical trial protocol.

· Perform clinical examinations and assist sample collection team in performing sample collection procedures. 

· Responsible for close monitoring and evaluation of patient status according to protocol guidelines and study SOPs.

· Review incoming subject adverse event (AE) information, provide immediate medical care, conduct follow up and documentation of AEs, as well as assist PI in making submission determination of AEs to sponsor and/or regulatory authority as per study protocol, TFDA guideline and SOPs.

· Resolving all incoming trial related queries. 

· Perform other study related or institutional duties as may be assigned by the PI or Clinical Research Coordinator.

Qualifications and Experience
· Degree in Human Medicine from a recognized university.

· Preferable with knowledge in Clinical research or 2 years’ experience in research involving human subjects.

· Proven ability to work in a team, and with strong interpersonal skills. 

· Good clinical acumen and quick in decision-making.

· Well written and oral communications skills in both English and Swahili languages.
