OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT ADVISER, HUMANITARIAN INNOVATION FUND
As our dedicated Outreach and Engagement Adviser you will be a key link between the Humanitarian Innovation Fund’s (HIF) funded innovations – which seek to use innovation and new technology to save lives and reduce suffering - and the wider HIF and ELRHA programmes.
Elrha, hosted by Save the Children UK, strives to improve humanitarian outcomes by enabling and supporting research, innovation and partnership that address pressing humanitarian challenges. We fund and support research and innovation projects around the world and work closely with humanitarian organisations, the international research community, the private sector and other actors engaged in research and innovation.
In this pivotal role you will build and maintain links between the work of the HIF, the projects we fund, and the wider humanitarian community in order to share learning and experience around innovation management and maintain the HIF’s position as the leading independent innovation initiative in the humanitarian system. You will actively engage with all HIF stakeholder groups, including applicants, funded projects, alumni and other partners, in order to develop and share compelling and coherent information on the innovation management work of the HIF. In addition you will:
- Work with the communications team to consolidate and share learnings in a range of formats, and embed the experiences of the HIF in the wider ELRHA communications strategy
- Foster a community of practice (online and in person) between HIF grantees, and the wider humanitarian innovation community
- Support the HIF and ELRHA teams with external representations and networking, including developing presentation content and speaking notes
- Be involved in the design of suitable resources and materials for outreach work, in line with ELRHA branding guidelines
- Work with the ELRHA communications team to capture media and learning assets at the field level, as required.
To be successful you will be a dynamic self starter who is able to build strong internal and external relationships in order to capture and share insights and learning in a range of formats and in creative ways. You will have an eye for detail, and be able to quickly turn around high quality and compelling copy. You will also have:
- Proven professional experience in a similar engagement or communications role, ideally in humanitarian, development or social innovation
- The ability to grasp complex concepts and find ways to communicate clearly and persuasively to a range of audiences
- Experience of writing clearly, and perhaps use of other media
- A clear and articulate understanding of innovation and its role, with the ability to rapidly produce compelling innovation content (stories, cases, blogs)
- Excellent networking and facilitation skills, with proven experience in bringing together diverse ranges of people for collaborative working
- Ability to travel – within the UK and overseas.
Knowledge of humanitarian systems and innovation management as well as fluency in French, Spanish and Arabic language is desirable.
If you share our mission, are passionate about making it happen and strongly believe you can contribute then join us and we'll give you every opportunity to succeed. We look forward to hearing from you.
