AMPATH Chief of Party

The Indiana University Center for global Health is currently recruiting for a USAID - AMPATH Chief of Party position. This is a full-time position based in Kenya.

The CUP’s primary role is to provide management and oversight for the USAlD-AMPATH partnership, a comprehensive primary care and HIV control program in western Kenya serving a population of nearly 2 million people.

The incumbent must be able to leverage financial and administrative knowledge and assimilate new management concepts and processes to improve financial operations, grant management and overall operating processes.

Qualified applicants must have the ability to manage the public health/international development program. ensure monitoring, and oversee financial and programmatic reporting to USAIDI and Indiana University.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • MS/MA in public health or related field; or PhD/MO or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum Experience: 7-9 years of relevant experience (5-7 with a PhD/MD) with international development programs including 3-5 years of managerial experience.
  • Overseas field experience is required.
  • Must be able to travel within the project area as well as the ability to travel internationally as needed.
  • Must have sensitivity to the cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issues surrounding public health issues.
  • Must have knowledge of strategic planning, administrative and financial management systems.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have experience in the design, implementation, management and leadership of public health/international development programs funded by the US government or other international donors.
  • Fluency in Kiswahili, and familiarity with PEFFAR are preferred.
