Design Specialist United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)

Purpose of the Position
The purpose of the post is to provide all PFP Sections with graphic design, web design, video editing, technical advice and brand protection, to improve PFP communication activities with external partners whilst ensuring the PFP brand is clearly defined and protected in support of UNICEF fundraising and advocacy.

Under the strategic guidance and supervision of the Chief Communication, you will be responsible for providing expertise and support to communication and fundraising staff in brand application and execution, and strategic visual communication. You will collaborate closely with other PFP Sections in ensuring brand consistency across all media and communication channels, utilising design best practices to ensure that external and internal communication are aligned and consistent.

Key Expected Results
1. You will produce and establish the development and implementation of a brand positioning strategy for all PFP visual communication initiatives. In consultation with DOC, you will collaborate within PFP, with National Committees and external partners to implement brand protection and creative design guidelines to further establish and promote the equity of PFP.

2. You will act as the PFP Communication Section focal point for all creative visual communication directives to support all PFP sections while continually maintaining the brand guidelines and updating them when necessary. Responsible for the creative direction of all PFP branded materials, including all PFP section reports, intranet websites, internal and external documents, internal communication and presentation materials. You will be responsible for art directing the Design Assistant to ensure all work is created and produced to the highest standards. You will provide support to PFP and UNICEF global initiatives for fundraising and advocacy purposes through the review of visual communication strategies, audiovisual and print materials, advising on appropriate brand positioning and ensuring the integrity of the brand.

3. You will advise PFP and National Committee staff on the brand positioning of PFP across all printed and digital media, ensuring the brand is applied accurately and with the correct equity. This will be most effectively applied to PFP work with corporate partners to ensure all co-branded material gives UNICEF an equal voice. The post incumbent will therefore ensure that all PFP sections, National Committees communication sections and relevant corporate partners are continually updated with the latest brand toolkit and brand guidelines.

4. You will provide graphic design, video editing and audio-visual support for the communication and fundraising sections of PFP to support related to major and sudden emergencies. Responsible for sourcing relevant images and videos to support external communication initiatives and donor-centric media requirements. Establishes, develops and produces visual communication manuals for field operatives to use as reference when producing reports for National Committees and donors, ensuring relevant imagery is used for the appropriate audience.

5. You will contribute to ensuring that PFP is current and relevant amongst our competitors, by researching, analysing and implementing the latest creative design best practices across all UNICEF PFP visual communication materials.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate
Advanced University degree in graphic arts or design, communication, journalism, media relations, marketing or equivalent. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Five to eight years progressively responsible professional work experience in the field of graphic design with at least five years within an international organization, including recent experience in the development and implementation of a global brand across a variety of markets. Experience in UNICEF or another international development organization would be an asset.

Fluency in English. Knowledge of French or Spanish is desirable.
