Expert for coordination and administration of ASEM Public Visibility
The Bureau for Institutional Reform and Democracy (BiRD) is looking for an expert for coordination and administration of ASEM Public Visibility for a short-term mission under the Lot 7 FWC.
Lot 7: ASEM: visibility preparation, support and delivery for 2011
Starting period: mid-March 2011
Duration: 40 w/d
Location: The mission is considered as being mainly home based for the experts, except for the meetings in Brussels mentioned in the ToRs. These meetings (up to 12 for the whole team) will be of short duration (up to one day long in average).
Global Objective
The global objective will be to deliver, enhance and support the public awareness of ASEM and its visibility and transparency by providing and encouraging publicity, media coverage and background research and wider technical knowledge on ASEM and EU-Asia relations – including in the run up to, as well as during and after the ASEM Foreign Ministers Meeting in June.
Specific Objective
The experts will propose and implement a work plan for ASEM visibility. The experts will be expected to deliver and execute the work plan in coordination with all relevant ASEM partners and parties.
The propose work plan will enhance ASEM visibility and awareness, taking account of and coordinating and building upon:
- The agreed formal ASEM Calendar of events 2011
- The previous ASEM Visibility Reports, proposals and Visibility toolkit
- The ongoing work of TASC – the Technical Assistance team for ASEM Coordination
Junior Expert: Expert for coordination and administration of ASEM Public Visibility
Required expertise:
- Have at least a Masters degree or equivalent
- Must have a minimum 3 years experience in the field of analyzing, coordinating, administering and reporting, preferably on Asia-Europe relations in Brussels
- Experience in working with or for the EU services would be a significant advantage
- Must have good computer skills, mainly working with MS Word, Excel, Access and website management; knowledge of additional programmes relevant to the implementation of the requested services will be appreciated (Photoshop, Publisher, In design, etc.)
- Must be fluent in the English language (both written and verbal expression) and able also to deal with French
