Internal Communications Coordinator

Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 90 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.

Job Description

Main function: Lead the internal communication of the Transparency International Movement

Reporting lines: Director of Communications

Contract: 2-year contract, with option for extension

Starting date: asap

Location: Berlin, Germany; with some international travel

Job Grade: Senior Programme Coordinator (SPC)

Key responsibilities:
The Internal Communications Coordinator will develop an overall internal communications strategy for the global Transparency International movement. This will include:

  • Developing knowledge and information management global solutions
  • Managing and further developing the organisation’s extranet (the Chapter Zone)
  • Training of members of the movement in internal communication tools
  • Developing solutions to engage members of the movement in consultations
  • Developing solutions to reduce dependency on travel for internal communications
  • Managing internal communications around TI’s major events and product launches
  • Research, develop and promote any new internal communications tools required
  • Work with managers to promote effective internal communications and staff engagement
  • Develop and maintain appropriate internal communications policies and procedures to ensure consistency in approach
  • Develop and establish the secretariat’s intranet
  • Manage the production of the internal newsletter at the secretariat
  • Develop a strategy to streamline the production of all other newsletters at the Secretariat

Knowledge, experience and skills:

  • University degree (or equivalent relevant experience) preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Psychology or similar degrees.
  • Track record of at least three years in internal communications
  • Up to date knowledge of internal communications methods
  • Effective communication/interpersonal skills with people at all levels, including ability to use tact, diplomacy and persuasiveness
  • Experience in managing communication of a global and de-centralised organisation
  • Knowledge of working with Content Management Systems; experience with Microsoft SharePoint would be an asset
  • Experience in photo, video or live-streaming solutions would be an asset
  • Hands-on team player
  • Flexible, capable of working under pressure and against deadlines
  • Excellent communication, presentation and networking skills
  • Strong language skills in written and spoken English and working knowledge of at least Spanish or French. Other languages are a definite asset.
  • People and service-oriented
  • Knowledge of the TI movement would be an asset

TI Secretariat reserves the right to appoint to another staff level subject to education and qualifications.
