Senior Programme Coordinator: Conventions Programme

Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 90 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.

The TI Conventions Programme is part of the TI-Secretariat’s Global Programmes Department and is seeking to recruit a (Senior) Programme Coordinator. The Programme aims at the development of an effective international legal framework for countering corruption. In particular, the Programme promotes the implementation, enforcement and monitoring of the landmark UN Convention against Corruption (2003) and of the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention (1997), as well as providing advice to regional work on the Inter-American Convention against Corruption (1996), the Council of Europe Conventions against Corruption (1999) and the African Union Anti-Corruption Convention (2003).

Job Title: (Senior) Programme Coordinator, Conventions Programme; full time position.

Main function: Supporting the Conventions Programme

Starting date: May 2011

Duration: Two years with possibility of extension

Location: TI-Secretariat, Berlin, Germany; with international travel

Department: Global Outreach and Campaigns Department, within the External Relations, Advocacy and Fundraising Group

Reporting lines: Reports to the Programme Manager of the Conventions Programme

Key responsibilities:

The work of the (Senior) Programme Coordinator will include:

  • Preparation of briefing papers and guidance notes
  • Coordination and compilation of monitoring reports by civil society organisations for international anti corruption conventions
  • Conduct of consultations and outreach to partners
  • Preparation of events such as workshops and training sessions
  • Preparation of advocacy materials such as fact sheets, flyers, press releases, statements, etc.
  • Writing budgets, fundraising proposals and reports to donors.
  • Assisting with further development of communications tools

Knowledge, experience and skills:

  • University degree (MA, J.D., L.L.M. or higher) in law or relevant field (international relations / development, public policy or business management)
  • Relevant work experience (in NGOs, international organizations, etc). Experience in legal practice a plus.
  • Experience in handling the production of publications.
  • Experience in communications, including developing media materials, writing content for websites and managing online publications.
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets and fundraising proposals
  • Fluency in English and, preferably, another UN language
  • Highly developed team work and intercultural communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel

TI Secretariat reserves the right to appoint to another staff level subject to education and qualifications.
