General Functions:
Under the overall supervision of Chief, Information Technology and Communications (ITC) and
direct supervision of the Network and Systems Supervisor the successful candidate will provide
first level support (IT Hotline) to Headquarters (HQ) users to troubleshoot their computer and
communication equipment and software issues and first level support of operational system
management (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Printing and File Services).
In particular he/ she will:
1. Provide assistance and training to staff in using ITC standard software, hardware, and
other equipment as member of HQ helpdesk.
2. Assist in maintenance of IT Infrastructure remote access equipment (Cisco VPN client,
SSL VPN, VoIP, Skype).
3. Undertake assigned tasks to provide 1st level technical remote support to missions as
requested.
4. Support in installation and maintenance of HQ IT Infrastructure equipment.
5. Compile, modify and keep up to date IT Infrastructure documentation.
6. Assist in monitoring and managing of network security equipment (firewalls, intrusion
prevention systems, WEB access filtering, network access control), network equipment (routers,
switches, Wi-Fi access points) and network monitoring solutions (OP Manager, What#s UP
Gold).
7. Provide IT Standby Support during non-business hours in HQ.
8. Assist in installation and maintenance of system and application service hardware and
software.
9. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Desirable Qualifications:
Education and Experience
a) Completed university degree from an accredited academic institution in Computer
Science, Electrical/Electronic/ Telecommunication Engineering or combination of relevant
education/ training and professional experience; b) five years work experience in Systems
and LAN/WAN networking environment; c) at least three years of experience in direct user
support and computer and communication equipment troubleshooting.
Competencies
a) Good communication and team work skills, ability to work effectively and harmoniously
with colleagues from varied cultures and professional background; b) good analytical skills;
c) extensive knowledge of: Windows OS and Active Directory services, networking and
network security equipment, in particular Cisco products, QoS and WAN acceleration and
compression equipment, VoIP and corporate Skype installations, WEB filtering and WEB
reporting equipment, in particular McAfee products and anti-virus solutions, in particular
TrendMicro, corporate backup solutions, in particular Symantec Veritas products, network
monitoring protocols and tools, like SNMP, WMI and OPManager; Cisco Certificated Network
Associate (CCNA) an advantage; d) personal commitment, drive for results, efficiency and
flexibility; e) demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity.
Language(s)
Thorough knowledge of English. Working knowledge of French an advantage.
