LOCALLY ENGAGED STAFF VACANCY

A Full Time Vacancy as described below has arisen in the British Embassy for an LE III officer, working as Personal Assistant to the Ambassador and Deputy Head of Mission.

LE III PA/AMBASSADOR, BRITISH EMBASSY TO BELGIUM

Main Role

  • PA management work: arranging appointments and official travel, diary and programme management, administrative and secretarial support for the Ambassador and the Deputy Head of Mission, and coordination work for the wider political and public diplomacy section and the wider Embassy. 80%
  • Embassy contacts officer – central point for Ambassador’s contacts. Also responsible for contact management strategy, networking and contact maintenance. 10%
  • Ad-Hoc support for the senior management team, e.g. coordination of management meetings, best practice initiatives, learning and development etc. 10%

Skills Required

Essential

  • Excellent organisational/office management skills;
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to deliver in a fast-moving, busy, high-profile environment;
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise;
  • Good IT skills;
  • Fluent written and spoken English;
  • Basic drafting skills;
  • Ability to think ahead, think strategically and act on own initiative under supervision;
  • Discretion and good judgement.

Desirable

  • Confident oral conversational French and/or Dutch;
  • Knowledge of Belgium;
  • Previous experience working as a PA;
  • Basic knowledge of UK government/civil service structures.
