Exploration in the Asia Pacific Region is currently focused on Australia and Papua New Guinea (PNG). Australia continues to be one of the world’s leading nations with substantial resources and minerals deposits.

PNG is perhaps one of the world’s most exciting and challenging regions for gold exploration. Currently, Barrick has over 6,000 square kilometres of contiguous ground for exploration in what is considered one of the world’s most highly endowed and under explored gold and copper regions.

Logistics Officer

Barrick is now seeking a Logistics Officer to provide quality logistical and safety support services to the Australia Pacific Exploration group. The successful candidate will be responsible for the co-ordination of logistics support personnel and equipment to assist the Exploration group in the discovery of gold deposits. This job is based in Barrick’s head office in Perth.

Key responsibilities include:

• Consolidating, maintaining, auditing and monitoring existing field equipment as well as the acquisition of major field items.

• Co-ordination with Project Leads and logistics and field coordinators regarding expenditure and budgeting

• Maintenance, divestments, purchasing and transfers of fleet vehicles and mobile equipment.

• Maintaining a network of industry contacts to allow for research, monitoring and trialling of new field techniques with the aim of competitive advantage, continuous improvement and cost savings.

• Purchasing, issuing and monitoring of work clothing and specialised Personal Protective equipment (PPE)

• Supplier sourcing and networking to ensure competitive pricing of field equipment.

• Purchasing and monitoring of Quality Control consumables including drilling standards, sample book printing and sampling consumables

• Organising freight and couriers within Australia and overseas.

• Maintaining and updating Australian Exploration assets registrar

• Database administration for a variety of inductions

• Data entry, administration and reporting as required

The successful applicant will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience in logistics activities, preferably in Exploration

• Trades certificate in Mining, Geoscience or Supply Management preferable.

• Exceptional organisational and multitasking skills including ability to set work priorities and work under pressure.

• Strong communication skills and the enthusiasm to actively seek, distribute and adapt new concepts.

• Strong administrative capabilities and MS Office skills.

• Lateral thinking, resourcefulness and good negotiation skills with the ability to work autonomously
