Rural Microfinance Specialist CHF International

CHF International is seeking a Rural Microfinance Specialist for a new livelihoods program in Ethiopia which aims to improve livelihoods of Ethiopia’s food insecure and very poor in rural areas through expansion of responsible and appropriate access to finance, increased economic opportunities and incomes, and enhanced food consumption.
The Rural Microfinance Specialist will lead efforts to strengthen financial services to rural poor, working with local formal and informal financial institutions and affiliated support organizations to develop new products and services and expand their outreach. The specialist will explore building linkages between existing rural rotating savings and credit cooperatives (RUSACCO) and/or village savings and loan (VSLA) groups to the formal microfinance/financial sector. S/he will provide assistance and oversight to technical teams within the program on access to finance, to ensure an integrated approach, and provide leadership for all aspects of training, service delivery, and monitoring and evaluation for microfinance activities. S/he will also identify and liaise with local regulators/regulatory bodies to promote development of appropriate legislation towards all forms of financial services, particularly RUSACCO and VSLA groups.
Qualifications:
•Masters degree in relevant field
•Minimum of seven years experience in microfinance, including proven success in financial product development in Africa
•Experience working with VSLAs and/or RUSACCOs desired
•Experience in managing and/or developing trainings of trainers a plus
•Strong understanding and experience incorporating gender issues into programs
•Experience with USAID-funded projects and cross-program partnerships required
•Experience in Ethiopia and/or East Africa a plus
•At least 4 years management/team lead experience
•Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
•Proficiency in English required
