Assistant Manager Regional Dispatch - Oakland - Maersk Line

General Responsibility: The Assistant Regional Dispatch Manager is responsible to manage the day to day oversight of the office clerical staff (OCU). Maintain a positive relationship while working closely with the staff to build a strong team through coaching, goal setting, and constructive feedback.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsible to maintain a clean and safe working environment
Ensure OCU staff maintains data integrity in their job functions thru monitoring work orders, and email correspondence.
Monitor all work orders created by the union staff every week, especially with regards to cost to ensure team is using the correct corridors, customer preferred carriers, and/or accessorial codes
Ensure all new/changed initiatives are presented, and implemented by the union staff.
Research and recommend best practices that can be followed.
Build a strong working relationship with the union leadership through open communication, and a firm understanding of the collective bargaining agreement.
Ensure OCU staff is focused on customer service, and moving all loads legally within the NAMWEIGHT Tool guidelines.
Build strong working relationships w/ local carriers to ensure Maersk is a cost leader: internal drayage rates vs. the local market rate.
Work directly with LOC team to address equipment concerns, in particular where customer needs are not being covered.
Work closely with operations, customers, trucking companies, and customer service to ensure movement of containers to the customer's satisfaction.
Build a strong working relationship with the local terminal management staff in order to ensure we achieve the most efficient movement of Maersk/Safmarine cargo through third party terminals in Oakland.
Monitor, record, and report all of the following on a weekly basis to department manager, along with suitable recommendations:
· cost savings
· unbudgeted expenses
· service failures
· empty equipment inventory in CY/terminals vs. bookings to ensure OAK is within our SAFE (Strategic Allocated Forecast Equipment) weekly goal
General Skills and Abilities
Leadership: Demonstrated leadership and team management skill, including the ability to inspire and motivate other to produce the highest level of service.
Technical/ Functional: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and the willingness to adapt to the implementation of new internal systems/software.
Communication: Have the ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally to internal and external customers.
Interpersonal: Establish effective work relationships with others in order to gain cooperation from individuals outside of your direct control.

· Customer Satisfaction-Achieve zero service failures
· Ensure all employees under out direct leadership have the adequate training to perform their jobs.
Education and Experience:
· College Degree or equivalent working experience of 2 years of transportation, logistics, and/or customer service experience.
