Overview:

General Motors is seeking a Global Enterprise Network Operations Security Manager for the Information Technology department of General Motors. The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects to support management for network infrastructure and security solutions for complex engineering environments, manufacturing/plant floor and other areas of GM. The candidate must be up for the challenge and be prepared to work collaboratively with various GM organizations to implement and provide operational support for, network security solutions that protect GM's network and computing environment.

Summary Role Description:

This position is accountable for GM's global network security operations and management. The position requires the setting of direction for the Network Security Management team, the translation of GM strategic security goals into operational practice, and the proactive security management for Global Manufacturing Plants, Engineering Tech Centers, and other facilities. This position requires a high-degree of experience and certification levels across a broad array of technologies including routing/switching, security, and VoIP. The position will be located in Warren Michigan at the GM Tech Center.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the ongoing management of operational security for General Motors' Global Enterprise networks.

- Manage a team of security engineers, security administrators and other technical specialists responsible for the global network security management framework - including administration and operations of firewall, IDS and IPS services.
- Leverage industry best-practices, including IS0 27001, NIST and CERT standards to provide a best-in-class Enterprise Security Network Management framework.
- Utilize effective project assignment and oversight to ensure on-time delivery of security enhancement projects.
- Assure GM security standards - ISC, TSS etc - are correctly and consistently applied to GM network assets though on-going management and measurement.
- Provide level 2 and 3 support for operational issues and/or problems.
- Works closely with GM Security and Risk leadership to develop continuous improvements to the network operational security framework, standards and metrics.
- Works with network designers and engineers when testing and validating new hardware, and software, for compatibility with management suite and operational procedure alignment.
- Monitors global information security threat landscape and proactively ensures that the risk to GM from these threats is appropriately managed.

Qualifications

Successful candidate will have 10+ years' of direct security management, security engineering and network engineering experience including:

- Thorough understanding and knowledge of
- Cisco Systems (Enterprise switches and routers)
- Cisco ASAs, Checkpoint Firewalls, Proxy services.
- Cisco RF Wireless LAN
- Cisco Voice Products
- Protocols: TCP/IP

- Infrastructure and network Services including but not exclusively; DNS/DHCP., Authentication and Authorization, RADIA, LDAP, 802.1x, NAC, Firewalls, IDS and IPS.
- Experience of threats against networked end node assets (physical servers, virtual servers, client devices) as well as data center security management a plus.
- Experience with IT Service Management processes (Incident, Problem, Change, SLM, Service Catalog, Release Management).
- Strong general practical security knowledge across a broad range of security domains.
- Strong general networking knowledge across a broad range of technologies.
- Expert level internetworking troubleshooting in a large-scale network environment.
- Extensive experience in security incident management and risk mitigation.
- Ability to analyze new and emerging technologies and incorporate into GM's network security landscape.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities related to projects, operations and current initiatives and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams and organizations.
- Extensive experience of security audit management, dealing with internal and external audit services.
- Experience of security assurance/verification techniques such as network penetration testing.
- Management or supervisory experience.

Additionally:

- Experience in large scale technology deployments as well as global communications and tracking.
- One or more certifications strongly desired: CISSP, CCNP, CCIE, CISM, CISA
- Ability to reason and think logically, apply judgment, implement solutions, and resolve conflicts
- Exceptional work ethic and the ability to multi-task with limited supervision
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and with written documentation. Effectively translate leadership direction into technical specifics, and clearly communicate technical matters to senior leadership.
- Proven Leadership, and is capable of taking charge in security incident situations

Education:

- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience required. Professional level Security certification (CISSP, CISM etc) and networking technologies certification (CCNP, CCDP etc) is a significant plus.

Experience:

- A minimum of 10+ years' experience in both network design and operational support, combined with significant practical security management and security engineering experience.
- Previous experience managing a technical team responsible delivering security solutions or operations, strongly desired.
- Previous hands-on implementation and configuration of; firewalls, routers, switches and VOIP solutions.
- Previous experience of security engineering for physical and logical networks as part of large scale enterprise network infrastructure installation or deployment projects.
- Experience designing and supporting networks in a manufacturing environment or large campus environment.
- Automotive / Manufacturing systems or network experience strongly desirable.
