THE POSITION
The Terminal Partnering concept and organization have been designed in line with Maersk Line’s strategy to deliver ‘On Time Delivery’ results of 95%. The Project Manager will be responsible for reducing the turnaround time of Maersk Line vessels in the ports, by identifying and drive improvements in partnership between Maersk Line and the terminal.

The Project Manager is expected to:

- Identify areas of improvement within Maersk Line and the terminal, by weekly analysis and review of the terminal operations
- Initiate solution development and drive implementation to reduce port stay of Maersk Line vessels significantly
- Create buy-in by working closely with both in- and external stakeholders (vessel command, terminal, port authorities, 3rd party service providers)
- Create a win/win situation where both Maersk Line and the terminals benefit from shorter vessel port stays
- Support execution staff in the Operations Cluster (NEULOC) with terminal and process specific knowledge and improve their ‘day to day’ execution
- Apply lean / six sigma methodology to ensure sustainability of the improvements
- Train and educate internal or external staff on ‘best practices’.
- Share best practices within the North Europe Terminal Partnering team for roll out at other ports

THE CANDIDATE has sense of urgency, initiative, be able to make the tough decisions and be able to work independently towards success. She enjoys working in a challenging environment, possesses strong stakeholder management / communication skills and is a natural change agent. Endurance and patience to implement sustainable solutions is important in this position.

As the position requires detailed analysis, conceptual thinking and a high level of interaction with many stakeholders, the candidate should like this broad scope, plus appreciate getting into details while maintaining the overall overview of the strategy.

Working experience in the shipping industry and/or experience in negotiation and stakeholder management is an advantage. Experience in Six Sigma (Process Excellence) and/or Lean techniques are preferred. The ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing, is essential and Danish language skills are a plus.

While the Project Manager will be based at the Terminal, some visits to the Operations Cluster in Rotterdam or the global Terminal Partnering office in Copenhagen will be needed. An extension of the responsibilities to Gothenburg or other ports is expected in the near future. This will involve frequent travel and work away from the home base.
