Senior Program Manager, Guatemala Specialty Coffee Program
REPORTS TO: Country Director Guatemala,Regional Director, Latin America & Caribbean Division, and the Senior VP, Global Coffee Initiative.
POSITION LOCATION: Guatemala City, Guatemala, with frequent travel throughout Guatemala, and limited travel to USA and other geographies.

We have established “scalable” models that create real, measurable, and sustainable impact. A good example is our Coffee Initiative, delivering technical assistance to a target of 150,000 smallholder farmers, with increases in yield of over 25% realized within the first 18 months. Our work in the coffee sector has been held up as a gold standard by institutions including the World Economic Forum, the Harvard Business School, and Time Magazine.
DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION AND PROGRAM
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 5 years successful experience in professional managerial roles in the coffee value chain in Latin America, with a preference for experience in Guatemala;
• Extensive networks in the coffee value chain in Latin America, with a preference for experience in Guatemala, among diverse actors including estates, smallholder farmer associations, exporters, roasters and the public sector;
• Proven leadership and management skills;
• Excellent analytical skills;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Excellent communications skills, both oral and written;
• An undergraduate and/or master's degree in business, economics or related field;
• An undergraduate and/or master's degree in agronomy, agri-business or related technical field.

TechnoServe is seeking a Senior Program Manager to lead a program to increase the incomes of 10,000 smallholder specialty coffee farmers in Guatemala in collaboration with a global coffee retailer and other local and international coffee value chain partners (the Program). The Program will be one of the most visible among TechnoServe’s activities globally given the partners involved in the alliance. The Program will take an innovative approach to demonstrate the shared value that can be created between local communities and global markets, while ensuring truly sustainable outcomes in the Guatemalan coffee supply chain; ethically, economically and environmentally.
The Program design borrows from successful coffee and other agricultural value chain programs implemented by TechnoServe, and will be managed within the Latin America & Caribbean Division of the organization. TechnoServe’s Global Coffee Initiative will provide constant support and there will be frequent experience sharing across geographies. While the Program is focused on Guatemala, TechnoServe expects the learnings to be replicated throughout Central America and beyond.
The Senior Program Manager will be responsible for the delivery of impact for the Guatemala Specialty Coffee Program, including responsibility for:
• Achievement of all agreed milestones;
• Management of all activities as per agreed timelines;
• Management of project implementation team of employees and contractors as per TechnoServe human resource policies;
• Management of monitoring and evaluation processes;
• Management of key external relationships;
• Contribution to knowledge management and experience sharing within TechnoServe and externally as required;
• Oversight of all internal and external reports required for the Program.
