Vision Fund Communications Officer World Vision

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Communications Officer will help give guidance to VisionFund global centre, its global microfinance institutes (MFIs) and employees throughout World Vision. Their work will be to assist MFIs in managing their own communications and guide employees in seeing the bigger picture of VisionFund's strategic goals. The role will also help to engage stakeholders to support VisionFund's work.
The main purpose of the position is to support the delivery of internal communications through a variety of channels. Including our central newsletter 'VisionFund News', VisionFund e-bulletin and contributing to World Vision's staff publications.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Imbed communications guidelines to all audiences, advise and update on current information and ensure alignment with new brand and identity.
    • Where necessary, question and challenge in order to arrive at clear and integrated communications
    • Draft and edit VisionFund newsletter and e-bulletin; provide story and photo selection, writing, editing, proof reading. Publish newsletter and manage translation and dissemination. Act as VisionFund point person for communication databases and follow-up with global communicators regarding news stories; organising virtual and live meetings for global communicators and World Vision partner meetings.
    • Maintain basic press office admin such as circulating media coverage, industry news and maintaining journalist contact database.
    • Prepare, guide and review written and visual material; briefings; announcements; Q&As and other communications products as needed and requested with the approval of line manager.
    • Carry out additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.
    • Understand how functional communications fits with the overall staff engagement. Ensure appropriate strategic use of communications channels for use in an integrated way


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
      REQUIRED:
    • Experience in drafting press releases and statements.
    • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or a related client services field, or equivalent work experience.
    • At least three years working in a related field in public relations, communications or marketing, preferably in a global and multi-cultural environment
    • Good networker and effective at working with others. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.

      PREFERRED:
    • Experience of global internal communications and /or change management is useful
