An unincorporated joint venture between Rustenburg Platinum Mines Limited and ARM Mining Consortium Limited

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the position of Business Area Leader - Mining, at Modikwa Platinum Mine, situated in the Eastern Bushveld near Burgersfort. The incumbent will report to the Business Leader (General Mine Manager) and is a 3.1(A) appointment in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act.

Requirements: • An applicable degree/National Higher Diploma in Mining Engineering • A Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency • 10 years hard rock mining experience, of which 5 years’ should have been at senior management level • Applicable financial knowledge • The ability to communicate and build relationships at all levels of the organisation, and experience in managing large numbers of employees • Knowledge of and experience in employee relations matters and strong people skills • Decline shaft sinking experience • Project management skills • Computer literacy (at skilled level) • Valid driver’s licence • Medically fit for the position (Red Ticket).

Duties and responsibilities: • Ensure effective monitoring of mining operational processes • Contribute to overall safety, health and sustained profitability of the shaft • Develop and co-ordinate the short-, medium and long-term plan for the shaft • Provide leadership towards achieving challenging production and safety targets • Ensure conditions underground are maintained at a high standard.
