A full-time position in the Business Management Team of the UK Joint Delegation to NATO in Brussels has become available.

NATO is the world’s leading multilateral defence and security organisation, composed of European and North American Allies. The UK Joint Delegation to NATO represents the British Government within NATO. Its offices are situated within NATO Headquarters in Evere (Brussels). The Delegation is staffed jointly by personnel from the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO), Ministry of Defence (MOD) and armed forces. This is an exciting opportunity to play a varied role in providing support to the Delegation.

LEII Deputy Head of The Business Management Team

You will work in the Business Management Team managing and delivering corporate services and support to the UK Delegation to NATO. During the next four years this will include helping to manage the move to a new NATO Headquarters building.

The post-holder will be expected to be flexible as to duties within the Delegation but the main responsibilities will be:

Corporate Services

  • Deputise as required for the Head of team across the full range of corporate services within the Delegation (HR, Budgets, Office Management, IT Services, Security, Transport, Health & Safety and Logistics). The focus is, in particular, on the subjects below;
  • Budget Management, including monitoring, profiling and payments in coordination with Delegation senior management and the team in charge of corporate services for the UK’s diplomatic missions in Belgium (Corporate Services Benelux);
  • Ensure the Delegation complies with Foreign & Commonwealth Office policy and legal requirements, including on security, health & safety, IT and information management;
  • Coordinate facilities management for the Delegation offices and common areas.

Visits Officer

  • Organise programmes and logistics for senior visitors to the Delegation, including for the regular meetings of NATO Heads of Government, Foreign and Defence Ministers;
  • Manage and coordinate Delegation staff at major events (e.g. NATO summits).

New NATO Headquarters

  • Represent the UK on the NATO Working Group overseeing the NATO HQ New Build project at Working Group level;
  • Assist the Deputy Permanent Representative in keeping UK stakeholders informed of developments, issues and timelines and help to develop the UK position on emerging issues by engaging with the new HQ Project Office, attending committee meetings and coordinating discussions between UKDEL, FCO and MOD stakeholders;
  • Support UKDEL Senior Management in planning the move of the Delegation’s own offices to the new HQ building.

Line Management

Line Management of three staff, with a variety of administrative, security and logistics/transport roles.

Essential Requirements

  • Excellent organisation skills;
  • Strong commitment to delivery;
  • Strong customer focus;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Fluent written and spoken English;
  • Proven IT skills, in particular experience of Microsoft Office and Excel;
  • Line Management experience;
  • Ability to occasionally work extended hours during peak periods, including in the run-up and during Ministerial meetings and Summits, and to travel internationally for occasional short periods;
  • A background in corporate services or facilities management.

Desirable

  • Experience in organising of events;
  • Working knowledge of French.

You will work in the UK Delegation to NATO, on the NATO campus in Evere: a truly international setting, with 28 Allies, many partner nations, and the International and International Military Staffs. On site are staff restaurants, a staff centre, and excellent sports facilities.

Additional Information

This position will be filled on a fixed term contract.
Taxable Gross monthly salary: €2736.57
