Global Social Impact iCats Fellowship 2012

LGT Venture Philanthropy is an impact investor that supports ventures with outstanding social and environmental impact to improve the lives of less advantaged people. As part of the support, professionals (iCats) are nominated for an iCats Program Fellowship, to bridge the gap between social ventures in need of know-how and experienced professionals, with the desire to contribute to the social sector.

The iCats Program matches experienced professionals with temporary positions at social ventures. iCats fellows work on a senior level within the ventures to build organizational capacity, systems, processes and additional management structures. Thus, they support the critical expansion and contribute significantly in the scaling-up the ventures’ impact. All participating ventures are part of the LGT Venture Philanthropy portfolio. Hence, iCats fellows are a vital part of LGT Venture Philanthropy's support to its portfolio organizations around the world.

iCats are professionals from all over the world with diverse backgrounds who want to share their professional expertise with social ventures to create positive impact. Fellows take on clear roles and responsibilities, commit to goals and report monthly on the progress. Typical roles are business developers, financial analysts, strategy consultants, sales and marketing specialists, operations and process managers, PR and communication strategists, and IT architects. To ensure the optimal outcome of iCats engagements, the LGT Venture Philanthropy team mentors the iCats with their know-how, insights and experiences throughout their in-the-field stay. Also, the team supports nominated candidates during preparation of their engagements (including a 4 -day orientation workshop in Zurich, Switzerland in January 2013).

Ultimately, iCats provide a professional capacity building service that supports ventures to maximize their impact.
