HIV Market Intelligence Manager The Clinton Health Access Initiative

The Drug Access Team:

The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) works to broaden access to life-saving therapy for HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria patients in the poorest parts of the world. CHAI approaches health access challenges with simultaneous and intensive engagement on both the demand and supply sides of the market.

On the demand side, CHAI’s country teams help governments to scale up treatment programs, improve procurement and supply chain management, and, for malaria, increase access to medicines through private sector distribution mechanisms.

Meanwhile, the Drug Access Team (DAT) works to address supply-side barriers to drug access and foster a healthy marketplace to ensure a sustainable supply of essential medicines. The DAT works closely with drug manufacturers and multilateral organizations to ensure global supply stability, lower drug prices, encourage the adoption of stringent quality standards, and accelerate the entry and uptake of new, improved products. Though CHAI’s work on marketplace improvements is organization-wide, the DAT plays the lead role in managing relationships with suppliers and coordinating work globally on access to medicines.
Position:

The Market Intelligence Manager will lead DAT’s market intelligence activities, focusing primarily on antiretroviral therapy (ART) for HIV/AIDS patients. His/her primary objective will be to manage a team of Global Market Analysts in capturing, analyzing, and communicating market data and applying the insights generated to increasing access to medicines in resource limited settings. In addition to leading the team, the Market Intelligence Manager will be responsible for coordinating the dissemination of market data and analyses and representing CHAI with key internal and external stakeholders (CHAI teams and management, donors, implementing partners and UN agencies) that leverage CHAI’s in-depth understanding of the antiretroviral (ARV) market place to drive global health policy.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a proven track record of both conducting rigorous quantitative and qualitative market analyses and of applying those to solve challenging business or public health problems. As a key member of the DAT leadership team the Market Intelligence Manager must also have strong commitment to personnel development and people management and excellent communication skills. CHAI places great value on personal qualities including resourcefulness, responsibility, tenacity, independence, energy, and work ethic.
Responsibilities:
1.Lead all of DAT’s HIV market intelligence activities including, but not limited to:
oDesigning and developing internal and external data collection tools to continuously enhance CHAI’s understanding of the global and local (country specific) ARV marketplace
oProviding leadership on best practices and new methodologies for analyzing a range of (often imperfect) clinical, patient, regimen, funding, sales, procurement, and export data sets
oDriving the development and dissemination of both patient and procurement level global drug forecasts, working closely with global partners and other CHAI teams
oCollecting, analyzing and tracking key grant indicators and ensuring methodologies remain consistent across grants and years
oIdentifying and implementing new ways in which market data can be used to advance CHAI’s Access to Medicines goals.
1.Drive the development of both qualitative and quantitative business analyses (e.g. product development costs, opportunity assessments, ROI on investment alternatives, profitability analyses, etc.) to inform the development and ongoing refinement of DAT’s strategy for improving the ARV marketplace
2.Manage team of 2 – 3 DAT Market Intelligence Analysts, including establishing performance goals, ensuring progress towards team milestones, and providing coaching and feedback
3.Represent CHAI and our approaches to advancing access to medicines at global and local conferences, on task forces, and in other public forums
