Job Description
Overview
To manage MoJ compliance with intellectual property legislation, and to monitor and maintain jLIS management information/business plan, advising the Chief Librarian and Senior Librarian where appropriate.
Job Description
Duties may include:
To co-ordinate jLIS management information
To co-ordinate monthly statistical returns across jLIS.
To compile monthly reports for jLIS.
To compile monthly reports against the business plan for the Information Operations Division Senior Management Team (SMT).
To develop the collection of online usage statistics.
To regularly review information that is collected and to recommend improvements to the jLIS SMT.
To manage the jLIS Risk Register and Business Continuity Plan (BCP)
To develop BCPs for both libraries, liaising with other government libraries as appropriate.
To manage and advise the MoJ and its sponsored bodies on copyright compliance
To develop and implement the policy for complying with copyright legislation.
To maintain guidance on the MoJ intranet.
To liaise with other stakeholders (eg. Xerox) about their role in assisting the MoJ’s compliance.
To co-ordinate copyright surveys as they are required.
To answer routine enquiries both from MoJ staff and from members of the public about publications whose copyright is owned by MoJ.
To liaise with the MoJ Lawyers and The National Archives about Crown Copyright and related issues as they arise.
To co-ordinate jLIS professional activity and act as the jLIS Training Coordinator
To support the Chief Librarian’s role as Head of Profession as required.
To assist the Senior Librarian’s work to support librarian and information professionals in the MoJ’s sponsored bodies
To manage the jLIS training plan, to staff aware of new courses and to support library and information professionals who are working towards CILIP accreditation or re-accredation.
To answer library enquiries
To answer enquiries in the RCJ Library at least one half day each week, and to cover the enquiry desk if an emergency arises.
To develop an understanding of the MoJ Library’s enquiry service, and to provide cover if an emergency arises.
To contribute to the wider work of jLIS and the MoJ
To contribute to the wider work of jLIS and the MoJ
To comply with the values and standards of behaviour as set out in the Information Operations Division Statement of Expectations.
To contribute to the team improvement objectives to support the delivery of the JLIS business plan.
To take responsibility for developing skills and competences.

Qualification(s)
You must have one of the following:
• a CILIP approved qualification
• an overseas qualification recognised by CILIP as equivalent
• CILIP certification (ACLIP) with at least 2 years full time equivalent experience of professional information work
• a masters level degree and have satisfactorily completed an IS transition course
• NVQ level 4 or equivalent in library and information studies plus experience of professional information work
• a CILIP approved qualification
• an overseas qualification recognised by CILIP as equivalent
• CILIP certification (ACLIP) with at least 2 years full time equivalent experience of professional information work
• a masters level degree and have satisfactorily completed an IS transition course
• NVQ level 4 or equivalent in library and information studies plus experience of professional information work
