The Middle East Institute is looking for an experienced Program Officer for the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center. SQCC's Program Officer will be responsible for program management from design to implementation, financial management, outreach, and administration. He/She will report directly to SQCC's Executive Director.

Duties:

Program Management Support: conceives and drafts proposals for a variety of program activities including conferences, workshops, exhibits, and other forms of outreach. Drafts quarterly, bi-annual, and annual programmatic reports; Prepares Board materials and takes notes at bi-annual board meeting.

Exchange Programs: Assists Executive Director in organizing and executing VIP and study abroad programs. Maintains correspondence and follow up with participants. Prepares background briefing materials.

Educational Resources: Designs educational materials related to Oman and SQCC.

Coordinates financial management, including overseeing the scheduling and processing of payments and reconciliations, drafting budgets, and monitoring expenditures.

Liaises with external partners and consultants.

Assists in the drafting of memorandums of understanding and contracts for partnerships.

Coordinates with MEI Director of Technology for website administration and development for both the SQCC website and the Indian Ocean in World History website.

Develops seasonal intern work plans and guides up to two interns through SQCC office procedures and programs.

Represents SQCC at national and local conferences and events.

Monitors news and events in Oman.

Coordinate travel for staff and visitors between Washington and Oman.

Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Must have knowledge of the Middle East and Oman in particular.

1-3 years Program management experience

Ability to meet all deadlines and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Demonstrated research, writing, and editing skills.

Outstanding English language skills; Arabic language skills preferred.

Exceptional organizational skills and ability to work independently.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with government and private individuals and organizations.

Bachelor's degree in Middle Eastern Studies, International Relations, or related field. Master's degree preferred.

Willingness to travel both domestically and abroad
