Our client is an association representing packaging material producing companies employing together over 200,000 workers across Europe. The applications of these packaging materials are numerous, spanning virtually the entire range of FMCG products.
On behalf of its members, the association makes a positive contribution to the development of EU policy particularly in the areas of packaging, waste, recycling and recovery and works closely with stakeholders to ensure widespread understanding and support for sustainable packaging solutions.
Position
The Public Affairs Manager will be based in Brussels. You will work closely with the MD and a dynamic team of colleagues, with responsibilities including:
- representing the association and its members in their interests towards the European Commission, the European Parliament, Council, and the EU Member States representatives in Brussels;
- representing the association and its members in their interests towards Customer Associations and Supply Chain organisations;
- defining and implementing a Public Affairs strategy in constant dialogue with the member companies;
- monitoring and clarifying the long-term legislative developments, their drivers and the expected market reactions to the members; monitoring related policy areas;
- analyzing and advising concerning EU policies and legislation, related to the member company’s activities;
- initiating and preparing presentations, brochures, briefings and publications to support lobbying activities; providing input concerning the other activities eg. marcoms.
Profile of the ideal candidate
- University degree in law or in political science with a specialization, say, in European, competition or environmental law;
- Ideally 3 to 7 years’ work experience in a similar position or in a EU institution or in a law or consulting firm dealing with trade and competition linked cases;
- Excellent analytical and drafting skills with strong communication, networking and presentation skills generally;
- Fluent in written and spoken English and French or German; any other European languages are a plus;
- Project management experience is a plus;
- Natural team player;
- Results oriented, persistent and stress resistant (flexible and able to work under time pressure);
- Self-starter and idea-generator;
- Proficient in Microsoft office applications.
