The role
The Advocacy Manager is responsible for supporting Save the Children members’ and country programmes’ advocacy and communication of our campaign priorities. The current focus of this role is our global campaign to end preventable child deaths, EVERY ONE. The Advocacy Manager will focus especially on working with colleagues to develop and implement influencing strategies, and on supporting advocacy around global campaign moments such as the UN General Assembly and G20 summits.

Qualifications and experience
Educated to degree level in a relevant field (e.g. International Development; Politics, International Relations; global health). Master’s degree in a relevant field is desirable.
• An ability to think strategically, to analyze complex information and offer creative, practical and high-impact solutions
• Excellent influencing and negotiation skills, including an ability to deal with people at all levels with credibility, tact, and diplomacy
• Proven track record of policy influencing at national or international level
• Proven ability to build networks with diverse partners in pursuit of common goals
• Proven ability to improve the performance of others in effective advocacy techniques
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and an ability to distil large amounts of information for a variety of audiences
• An ability to translate policy positions into clear and compelling calls for action
• 10% international travel
• Results oriented, with experience in developing and monitoring performance
• Experience of a complex organisational structure, preferably in a global context.
• An ability to work flexibly in a team, and to adjust work plan and priorities rapidly in response to external opportunities
• Understanding of how to achieve change in diverse national contexts, using a range of approaches
• A commitment to the Save the Children’s mission and values
