The Bureau seeks to appoint a Director of Economic Regulation to join their senior management team. The Director of Economic Regulation will have an overall responsibility for to ensuring that the Bureau's statutory duties in respect to the Economic regulation of the sector are fulfilled and that licensed companies comply with their license obligations with respect to economic matters.
Who we're looking for
This is a key senior appointment requiring the successful candidate to combine strategic and commercial acumen with a high level of technical ability. You will be a proven senior manager with a hands-on, results driven style and possess a degree in Economics or closely related discipline and ideally a post graduate qualification. The ideal candidate will also have experience in the following areas:
• Best practice techniques in setting price controls for network companies
• Tariff design principles and practice within the utility sectors
• Financial incentives for renewable energy / feed - in tariffs
• Innovative tariff structures for large customers
• Design of incentive schemes to improve sector performance
• Mechanisms to incentivise efficient use of water and electricity and demand side management
• Operating expenditure and capital expenditure efficiency reviews
• A full understanding of the regulatory framework for utilities.
About our client
The Regulation and Supervision Bureau (Bureau) is the independent regulator of the water, wastewater and electricity sectors of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The main duty of the Bureau is to ensure secure supplies of electricity and water to the people of Abu Dhabi. The Bureau has exclusive authority to regulate all companies undertaking activities associated with the generation, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity as well as the production, transmission, distribution, sale and treatment of water including wastewater products.
