Grade 4: £19,972 - £23,121 p.a.
This position is available for a fixed-term of one year from 1 October 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointee will work in the Bate Collection of Musical Instruments to complete a registry survey of the entire collection (nearly 2,000 objects), ensuring that existing documentation is fully up to date in accordance with relevant standards set by the Collections Trust and Arts Council England, consistent within itself, and in a fit state for future maintenance. This task requires meticulous attention to detail and a systematic and consistent approach. The appointee will also undertake general museum duties in support of the Bate Collection Manager.

You will have a pro-active approach to problem-solving, good communication and organisational skills, and the ability to work reliably and methodically on tasks of a repetitive nature for long periods. Ideally, candidates will have a working knowledge of current museum documentation standards (SPECTRUM), experience of photographing museum objects, and a knowledge of, and interest in, music.
