Uganda Christian University Assistant Lecturer (Communication)

Job Title: Assistant Lecturer (Communication)

Reports to: The Head, Mass Communication

Qualifications and experience

1. A Masters’ Degree in Journalism/Communication/Mass Communication from a recognized institution of higher learning (or in advanced stages of completion);
2. Taught at university level for at least two (2) years;
3. Mature Christian commitment;
4. Evidence of substantial professional planned communication/public relations undertakings;
5. Demonstrates understanding of the workings of the communication sector and its relationship with other sectors;
6. Excellent writing skills;
7. Photojournalism will be an added advantage;
8. Committed Christian.

Main duties and Responsibilities

1. Teach planned communication courses including public relations, advertising and development support/social and behaviour change communication;
2. Demonstrate the capacity to teach at least two conceptual courses in the field of Mass Communication;
3. Set and mark examinations and coursework;
4. Supervise student projects, dissertations, research and internship;
5. Counsel students;
6. Prepare lessons for delivery;
7. Develop training materials/manuals;
8. Participate in meetings, on committees and in such other activities as pertain to the smooth running of the Department.
