WWF Global Climate and Energy Initiative, Head of Climate Business Engagement

We are recruiting a Head, Climate Business Engagement to be responsible for the business engagement work of the Global Climate and Energy Initiative and part of the GCEI Management Team. We are looking for an energetic and motivated individual with experience from the corporate sector including on climate and energy issues. You have documented experience in program management and can engage with and support WWF stakeholders including in national offices on climate business engagement.

This is a global position based in WWF-Mexico offices in Mexico City, Mexico


Reports to:

Leader, Global Climate and Energy Initiative with close interaction with WWF-Mexico Climate and Energy Program staff, GCEI focal countries and core staff.

Main responsibilities:
  • Develops and implements the GCEI business engagement strategy.
  • Represents WWF as appropriate in external fora, negotiations and media.
  • Actively supports and leverages business engagement activities on climate and energy across the WWF network. Provides capacity-building as appropriate.
  • Active member of the GCEI Management Team.
  • Ensures alignment of CBE work within GCEI and externally, and develops synergies wherever possible.
  • Line manager for climate business engagement staff within GCE.
  • Delivers a balanced CBE budget and contributes to fundraising efforts.
  • Complies with all WWF International reporting, performance monitoring and review requirements, including quarterly reporting to the GCEI leader.
  • Carries out duties as delegated from the GCEI leader.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • A minimum of 10 years people and program management experience.
  • At least five years experience from the corporate sector, with at least three years experience working on climate and energy issues in a business context.
  • A degree and preferably a post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline,
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation and diplomacy skills.
  • Experience working in a developing country context.
  • Ability to relate credibly with relevant audiences.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent command of English and Spanish; other relevant languages a plus.
