About the role

You will act as senior internal communications consultant to our Commercial directorate leadership team.
 
You will be instrumental to making sure our messages increase colleagues’ motivation, pride and engagement in the directorate’s work and the vision of British Airways. 
 
Playing a pivotal role in bringing our industry leading brand to life to a commercial head office, global sales and contact centre internal audience, you will enjoy a significant influence at a senior level.

About the day to day

  • You will be a valued member of both the Commercial directorate leadership team and the Internal Communications management team
  • We will look to you to develop and drive a commercial-focused internal communications strategy, while also making a crucial contribution to shaping and implementing the wider internal communications strategy for the airline as a whole
  • Your internal communication strategy will focus on our head-office based commercial areas, our global sales force and our contact centres based in the UK and overseas
  • Planning, tracking and evolving communications activity, messages and channels within the directorate, you’ll champion tailored, creative and engaging communications which align to business goals and resonate strongly with their audience
  • You will write and manage executive communications for a directorate’s senior leadership team, managing and develop local communication channels and deliver effective cultural, business and change programmes in support of the agreed communications strategy for the directorate

About you

  • An expert in internal communications practice and channels, you’ll bring to the role a proven ability to craft projects and messages that support employee engagement and cultural change. We’ll expect you to be a compelling communicator, both in writing and in person
  • With a degree or recognised qualification in journalism, public relations or internal communications, plus experience of driving the delivery of large-scale communications plans, you have the gravitas, creativity and resilience necessary to advise and persuade at the highest level
  • Able to influence and advise on effective internal communications at a senior level
  • Excellent written skills; able to write to professional standard across a range of channels
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand commercial metrics and concepts
  • Able to translate complex information into simple and compelling language
  • Creative thinker with ability to use fresh and innovative ideas to influence employee attitudes and behaviours
  • Able to create and secure buy-in for communication plans to support business objectives
  • Able to operate across a matrix organization and airline partners with flexibility to accommodate a global audience working across time-zones and cultures
