Communications & Events Project Officer

British and Irish Agencies Afghanistan Group (BAAG) is a membership network supporting 29 NGOs operating development and humanitarian programmes in Afghanistan. Established in 1987, its main activities include policy and advocacy, events and research focused on development and humanitarian needs and issues in Afghanistan. Thematic areas covered include women’s and human rights, aid effectiveness, civil society and peace building.
In November 2014 BAAG are hosting a large-scale Afghan civil society conference in London. The aim of the conference is to provide recommendations to the Government of Afghanistan and the international community regarding development in Afghanistan as it moves from the Transition year into the Transformational Decade. In preparation for this event BAAG will be consulting widely with Afghan civil society organisations, Afghan and international NGOs, representatives of Her Majesty’s Government, the UN in Afghanistan and other stakeholders. BAAG, its members and partners will be promoting the event via global international media and social media.
The Communications and Events Project Officer will be an integral part of the BAAG team, supporting the planning, administration and delivery of the Conference and the media and communications activities leading up to this.
