Intern - University Meets Microfinance Project, Germany

PlaNet Finance is an international non-profit organization dedicated to the development of microfinance through the provision of technical assistance and consulting services to the microfinance and banking sector. PlaNet Finance develops and animates networks of MFIs, experts, and local actors in order to support the development of men and women professional projects.

University Meets Microfinance (UMM):
University Meets Microfinance (UMM) is a European initiative which fosters cooperation between university students in Europe, academics, and microfinance practitioners. It is financed by the European Commission, GIZ GmbH, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the European Investment Bank Institute, the European Microfinance Platform (e-MFP), PlaNet Finance, and several others. Its activities are designed to foster microfinance education, microfinance research, documentation, professional exchange, and dissemination of information.

About the Job: 
PlaNet Finance is seeking an Intern - University Meets Microfinance Project. S/he will be responsible for carrying out varied activities in the field of development cooperation. The position is based out of Berlin and it is for a period of five months.
Tasks and Responsibilities: 
  • Assistance for the UMM project:
    • Prepare the upcoming UMM workshop in Burkina Faso in the frame of African Microfinance Week;
    • Support during the scholarship selection process;
    • General tasks including research, organizational, and administrative tasks.
  • Project assistance for the officer manager:
    • Prepare and provide support in proposal writing, prepare presentations, and research activities;
    • Support project development and project management;
    • Communication tasks (websites, flyers, and events);
    • Perform general administrative tasks.
Qualifications: 
  • Experience in the field of development cooperation, microfinance, the banking sector, or communication as well as in developing countries (desired);
  • First practical working experience within the scope of the internship topics would be an advantage;
  • Fluent in English (required);
  • Basic language skills in German and French (desired);
  • Strong MS-Office skills;
  • Willingness for a commitment of five months, full time work;
  • Flexibility, commitment, strong communication skills, and willingness to work in a small motivated team.
