Environmental and Social Expert for Development Finance Institutions
Focus and Scope
You lead our business unit on environmental and social (E&S) management systems for Development Finance Institutions (DFI). You will be responsible for the development and implementation of projects in DFIs worldwide. Conducting E&S due diligence on transactions is a critical component of a financial institution's E&S management system and its outcome should be factored into the decision-making process for proceeding with a transaction.
Tasks included:
- Developing E&S strategies, training modules/manuals /guidelines, and executing best E&S practices for DFIs across the developing world.
- Conducting E&S situational analysis for companies, investment projects, financial institutions and investment funds.
- Implementing E&S management systems at DFIs and developing and implementing capacity building strategies for DFIs
- Providing intellectual guidance on E&S for DFIs and represent E&S practice at conferences and work meetings; and develop portfolio and tools, trainings, checklists further.
Qualifications
- An advanced university degree in economics or industrial engineering with specialisation in environment or an environmental management degree with a good understanding of economics.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the fields related to E&S due diligence, IFC Performance Standards, E&S frameworks and management systems across sectors and regions
- Experience with systematic identification, quantification and assessment/evaluation of environmental and social risks associated with an investment.
- Highly experienced in working for the financial sector and in development cooperation in several countries.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English is a must, additional skills in French and Spanish a plus.
