ROCK TOOLS RECONDITIONING TECHNICIAN

Sandvik Mining & Rock Technology is seeking a
Rock Tools Reconditioning Technician
Location: Musselwhite Mine (Thunder Bay, ON)
Schedule: Fly-in/Fly-out, 2 week rotations
Sandvik Mining & Rock Technology is a leading global supplier of equipment and tools, service and technical solutions for the mining and construction industry. Our offering covers rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading and hauling and materials handling.
Currently we are looking for a Rock Tools Bit Reconditioning Technician to work at Musselwhite Mine that is located near Thunder Bay, ON and is one of the largest gold mines in Canada. The position is a 14 day on (12 hours per day) / 14 day off rotation. Travel to and from the mine site is provided by a charter plane that departs from Thunder Bay, ON.
The Role
The qualified applicant will be responsible for the sharpening and reconditioning of Sandvik Rock Tools and will also be required to monitor and maintain rock tools inventory. Additional responsibilities include:
  • Ensuring parts and stocks are entered into the company data base
  • Maintaining bit reconditioning report log
  • Troubleshooting and providing technical recommendations and improvements to Supervisor
  • Assisting in training of customers and Sandvik employees as required
  • Completing accurate time records, technical reports and failure reports
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager
Your Profile
  • Completion of Secondary School (High School)
  • 1-3 years of basic machine shop or industrial experience
  • Knowledge and/or experience with industry-specific equipment an asset
  • Highly self-directed and have the ability to work in a team environment
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability and willingness to work underground
  • Willingness and ability to undergo drug testing to meet Musselwhite mine pre-access site requirements
  • Valid Basic Underground Common Core certification
  • Detail oriented with good time management and organizational skills
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
