Commercial Specialist – Sales Support (North America)
Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a leading global supplier of equipment, tools, service, and technical solutions for the mining industry. The product offering covers rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading and hauling and materials handling.
The role
As the Commercial Specialist - Sales Support, you will be responsible for providing tangible and accessible support to Sandvik’s sales teams in the North American region. This includes supporting the preparation, approval, and management of quotations, tenders and contracts of high quality and which are compliant with Sandvik’s governance policies.
As you will work with sales teams with the region to formally manage the commercial risk assessment of regional quotations and contracts, you must be extremely comfortable reading and understanding contractual language, and able to work closely with Legal to ensure all issues within the proposed language are identified and resolved prior to business commitment.
Responsibilities include:
  • Adhere to all policies & procedures especially the EHS policies.
  • Work closely with the regional / relevant Business Controller(s) to assess risks and viability of the long term profitability of proposed deals – query logic, ensure business cases are comprehensive and an accurate reflection of projected invoicing and COGS levels.
  • Ensure all relevant P&L global stakeholders have been included in the review process for new business – mediate / coordinate communications where required.
  • Support the sales teams to ensure faster approval timelines and smoother submission processes.
  • Participate as required in Customer negotiations.
  • Train and embed users in new commercial management tools, systems, and processes.
  • Participate in forensic process auditing of regional adherence to internal policies and procedures, prepare gap assessments and recommended gap closures.
  • Investigate and log any process deviations within the region – recommend next steps to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Work with the Regional Commercial Manager in the ongoing development of commercial management process improvements, process mapping, audit tools, and user guidelines.
The preferred location for this role is our Smyrna, GA location
Your profile
You possess a minimum of 3 years of contract preparation and/or procurement experience, preferably within the mining and/or heavy construction industries. Experience in a mining environment is preferred, but not required. You have extensive experience in contract development from quotation/tender preparation to finalization, and a clear understanding of legal terms and conditions. You also possess a strong comprehension of financial reporting and business case assessment. Experience in development of new templates, processes, policies, or procedures would be highly regarded, and experience in the performance of process auditing would be also be beneficial. You are highly proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
You are independent, efficient, and think well on your feet. Your communication (verbal and written) skills are outstanding, as are your presentation skills, and you are adept at debating difficult issues tactfully and diplomatically.You are a proactive relationship-builder, and use your excellent interpersonal skills build trust and establish respectful working relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Your strong team development skills and cultural awareness enable you to lead across differing geographies and cultures. You are a detailed oriented multi-tasker, and prioritize your workload and deadlines with minimal supervision, while managing your time effectively. Fluency in English is required.
