ACTUARIAL CONSULTANT UNRWA

DURATION
The position is for 2 months.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The position will be reporting to the Finance Director and will:
- Collate all necessary data and statistical information to realistically calculate the IPSAS compliant long term employee benefit liabilities for both international and local staff.
- In detail review the appropriateness and completeness of existing UNRWA IT models used to calculate and forecast discrete employee financial benefits. Critique IT employee benefit models and provide clear recommendation for improvement or enhancement is required.
- Analyze staff data to track historical and future employment trends correlation to retirement benefit program and it’s funding.
- Perform necessary actuarial and other calculations and analysis on long term employee benefit liabilities such as accrued annual leave and retirement (termination) benefits and financial lease liability to be compliant with International Public Accounting Standards (IPSAS)
- Create and maintain proper documentation to facilitate future framework for such calculations.
- Prepare clear and concise reports to be used in the preparation of the agency’s financial statements.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors on all queries related to long term employee benefits.
- Present results and analysis to management and key stakeholders and answer detailed and challenging questions regarding the data and outcome.

COMPETENCIES
- Comprehensive knowledge of IPSAS in particular the standards relating to the Employee benefits.
- Proven ability to write in clear concise manner and to communicate complex issues to the management and other stakeholders
- Ability to apply conceptual, analytical and evaluative skills to achieve reliable actuarial conclusions
- Ability to conduct independent research and analysis, identify issues, formulate options and make conclusions and recommendations.
- Practical experience in interpretation of accounting standards (IPSAS 25) related to employee benefit and worked within an ERP environment would be a distinct advantage.
- Excellent commend of written and spoken English

The position is based in UNRWA HQ IN Amman, Jordan.


REMUNERATION AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
Remuneration for this assignment will be based on the current UNRWA salary scale and will depend on the qualifications and experience of the expert. A competitive remuneration offer is available to the successful candidate.
