The international medical humanitarian organisation Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) in Hong Kong is looking for suitable candidate for the following position based in Hong Kong:
FUNDRAISING MANAGER - REGIONAL MAJOR GIFTS
Major Responsibilities- Definition and implementation of strategy in developing the Major Gifts donor sector in the region. Subject to the strategy, the person shall lead in the creation, recruitment and set-up of supporting staff in the strategic location(s) identified.
- Annual Major Gifts planning and budgeting in order to meet priority funding needs, objectives, and within the policies of MSF.
- Leads the development of strategies and coaches supporting staff for prospect research, solicitation, and cultivation approach
- Representation within the MSF movement, as well as with external contacts
- Cultivation and solicitation of major gifts amongst existing and potential major donors
- Development of donor communications and appeals regarding MSF programs, key messages, sensibilities and ethics
Requirements
- University graduate
- Min. 5 yrs Major donor fundraising experience including significant experience with personal solicitation
- Strong manager; facilitator; integrator, with minimum. 3 years staff management experience.
- Strong interpersonal, public speaking and presentation skills
- Excellent level in written and spoken English. Written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is a definite strong asset.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize complex and sensitive material and use it to develop funding proposal, strategic plans
- Ability to write a range of correspondence from formal business letters to thank you notes
- Strong computer literacy, including ability to use word-processing, spreadsheet and database software, and to search the internet for research purposes
- Experience with donor databases and contacts management
- Knowledge of international humanitarian affairs
- Commitment to the aims, values and principles of Medecins Sans Frontieres; ability to engage and understand MSF?s social mission and carries a strong believe in how the function of fundraising is adding value to it.
- Dynamic and creative; excellent judgment and diplomacy
- Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to handle a large volume of work under pressure and with deadlines
- Keen attention to detail with ability to track multiple projects at one time
- Proactive and can work independently with a minimum of supervision
- Flexible travel schedule; must be able to travel as required for standard domestic and international business travel, as well as to MSF field projects
- Moral commitment of a minimum of 3 years
