SENIOR LECTURER Media Studies

Duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching practical and theoretical aspects of television broadcasting. It will be an advantage if s/he can also teach film and cinema. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the academic standing and good reputation of the Department of Media Studies by engaging in research, publications and/or external professional activities.

Requirements: Candidates should possess a PhD in Broadcasting, Media Studies, or a related field with a specialization in television broadcasting. The candidate should have (i) at least 3 years of University teaching experience or equivalent (ii) a minimum of 6 pieces of published research (e.g. books, book chapters or journal articles); at least 4 of these should be refereed journal articles, lead or single author in at least 2 (iii) The candidate should demonstrate evidence of sustained research output; iv) evidence of service to the university, the profession and the community. Preference will be given to candidates with broadcast television experience. The curriculum vitae should contain a detailed list of published works, clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, names of publishers, name/s of co-author(s) and number of pages. The works should be categorized into books, refereed and non- refereed works, consultancies and practical media projects.
