Translators: English to French and French to English

Leveraging the AIDS response, UNAIDS works to build political action and to promote the rights of all people for better results for global health and development. Globally, it sets policy and is the source of HIV-related data. In countries, UNAIDS brings together the resources of the UNAIDS Secretariat and 10 UN system organizations for coordinated and accountable efforts to unite the world against AIDS.
UNAIDS Regional Support Team (RST) for West and Central Africa provides timely and effective support to UNAIDS Country Offices, while working with regional partners to coordinate and provide programming and technical support to strengthen national responses. Within its activities, the RST/WCA produces and works on different important documents such as publications, meeting and mission reports, concept notes and country profiles among others.
Against the above background, the RST/ WCA is seeking candidates for the translation of materials from English to French and French to English.
The incumbents will mainly perform the following duty:
• Translation, revision and proof reading. Translate, revise and/or proofread materials such as corporate publications, media materials, web pages, technical reports and manuals, and/or any other documents the RST WCA would request.
Skills and experience
• A very good experience of translating materials from English to French and from French to English (5 years);
• Demonstrated writing skills in both languages (English and French);
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• High efficiency with little supervision, ability to define priorities;
Qualifications
• Excellent written and spoken knowledge of English and French;
• Diploma in translation, Foreign Language or any other relevant field;
• At least 3 year experience in areas of health and development issues, in particular within the HIV/AIDS context;
• General knowledge of the HIV epidemic.
