Residences Sustainability Officer

London School of Economics and Political Science - Sustainability Team, Facilities Management, Estates Division

Salary from £23,154 - £26,045 per annum inclusive with the potential to increase to £28,031

Based within Residential Services, part of the Residential and Catering Services Division and working as a member of the School's Sustainability Team in the Estates Division, this post will support the Head of Environmental Sustainability in delivering a range of projects to fulfil the School's Environmental Policy commitments in particular in halls of residence.

Projects could vary from 3-18 months in length and will require a high level of administrative and organisational effectiveness including planning, diary management, correspondence, filing, financial administration, taking minutes, data collection, communications and acting as a focal point for enquiries on sustainability with colleagues across the School and external stakeholders

The Residential and Catering Services Division is responsible for the School's residences, catering and nursery. The residences comprise of ten halls, four of which have catering on site, and a small housing complex, totalling 3,500 beds. The division employs over 250 staff and has a turnover of £25 million. The Division's aim is to provide first class affordable services to staff and students, within a sound financial framework, which support and enhance the LSE community.

Each academic year Residential Services aims to recruit volunteer Sustainability Champions (Champions) from amongst students living in Halls of Residence. Each residence aims to recruit one student for waste and one for energy reduction. The Champions work with halls staff to highlight sustainability issues within the hall and to achieve reductions in waste going to landfill sites and wasted energy. Successful Champions are able to attract a small team of students from within the hall to set an agenda for change

You will be a member of the Sustainability Team within Facilities Management in the Estates Division, supporting the Head of Environmental Sustainability to deliver the LSE Environmental Policy. You will undertake a varied administrative and project based workload, including supporting progress on the Environmental Management System in the halls of residence.

You should have experience of project management, environmental auditing and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Advanced knowledge of Ms Office suite and attention to detail and excellent written English grammar are essential.
