Evolutionary Computation PhD Positions

University of Limerick - Biocomputing and Developmental Systems (BDS)

The Biocomputing and Developmental Systems (BDS) group at the University of
Limerick is pleased to announce the availability FOUR fully funded PhD scholarships.
The scholarships are for three years and are worth approximately EUR 24,000 (tax free) per annum.

Applications are invited from candidates with an MSc or first class honours BSc in either Computer Science or Mathematics. The BDS group is a multi-disciplinary research group composed of researchers from Computer Science, Engineering, Biology, Medicine and Mathematics, and is the group that introduced the popular Grammatical Evolution automatic programming system.

All four positions will be in a major new Evolutionary Computation project to produce
the nextgeneration of grammar based evolutionary systems, and offer the candidates to work with some leading edge technology companies partnering the group.

Areas of interest include:

  • Foundations of Evolutionary Computation
  • Grammars
  • Parsing
  • Compiler Design
  • Image Analysis
  • Data Mining
  • Formal Methods
  • Parallel Computing (both OpenMP and MPI)

More information is available from: Grammatical Evolution : http://bds.ul.ie
For informal discussion, contact Conor Ryan (email: Conor.Ryan@ul.ie).

Due to funding constraints, these positions are available only to EU citizens
