Description:
Since 1963 and in 145 countries, ACDI/VOCA has empowered people in developing and transitional nations to succeed in the global economy. Based in Washington, D.C., ACDI/VOCA is a nonprofit international development organization that delivers technical and management assistance in agribusiness, financial services, enterprise development, community development and food security to promote broad-based economic growth and vibrant civil society. ACDI/VOCA currently has approximately 90 projects in 40 countries and revenues of $124 million.

We seek a D.C.-based Project Coordinator to provide technical, administrative, logistical, financial and programmatic supervision and backstopping to a portfolio of projects, mainly in Afghanistan with potential back-up support to projects in Iraq. Responsibilities include supporting regional business initiatives and departmental projects/activities, ensuring that all projects are carried out in accordance with the terms and conditions of their respective contractual agreements, and assisting in the preparation of proposals for new business and in the marketing of ACDI/VOCA's core competencies. Bachelor's degree in international development, agriculture, business, economics, political science, finance, sociology, anthropology or other related field plus a minimum of two years of professional experience in international development is required; master's degree is strongly preferred. Candidates must possess strong statistical/analytical, written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in using Excel, Word, PowerPoint and the internet as a research tool. Knowledge in international development, community development, local governance, local economic development and/or natural resource management/climate adaptation is preferred. Experience in developing countries is required. Fluency in a foreign language is highly desirable. Knowledge of USAID and other donor programs is strongly preferred.
