Applications are invited for a full-time, continuing (i.e. permanent) position at the level of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, respectively, in the North American system) in the areas of Forest Health and/or Biosecurity.
Applicants must hold a relevant PhD degree and have a successful research record in forest health or biosecurity with research experience relevant to New Zealand plantations or indigenous forests. The successful applicant will have the ability to teach courses that cover forest health and/or biosecurity including: the role of pathogens and insect pests in forests, the impact of vertebrate pests on plantations and indigenous forest systems, the impact and mitigation of abiotic forest health factors in forest systems and biosecurity risk management.
The successful applicant will be expected to undertake research, supervise postgraduate students and develop links with the New Zealand forestry sector, as well as collaborate with other academics in the School’s teaching, research and administrative activities.
Operational expenditure will be available from College funds for the first two years after appointment, and the appointee will also have the opportunity to apply to capital expenditure funds as part of the annual budgeting process.
